I've Found 10 New Video Game Deals That Are Worth Considering Today - August 14

If you would like to share in the knowledge of what the best gaming discounts are out there right now, then join me in a journey of discovery as we discuss the very latest offers for physical and digital games on Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox.

Highlights today include Silent Hill 2 at its lowest price on PS5 since late last year, the immensely popular Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is back down to its Prime Day price, and the incoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at 25% off on Steam only weeks before its release.

Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2's remake from Blooper Team was one of the standouts in a stacked 2024. It's currently down to $29.99 at Amazon for PS5, and it's more than worth picking up at that price. That's $20 off the list price, and a 40% discount to boot.

That's its lowest price since the very end of last year, and probably one of the best deals on a PS5 game I've seen in 2025. Horror fans, do not miss this one!

In his review for IGN, Tristan Ogilvie said: "Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror."

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater

It's one of the biggest games releasing this year, and you can bag a handy discount on PC if you're looking to play Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on release day, August 28, 2025.

It's down to $52.49 right now for Steam, 25% off the $69.99 MSRP, and well worth considering. You're buying the code from Steam key retailer Fanatical, a trusted site that even I use myself. If you were going to pick up the remake anyway, this preorder deal is a no brainer for MGS fans.

Suikoden I & II HD Remastered

Suikoden I & II HD Remastered brings two classic PlayStation JRPGs to modern platforms, along with souped-up visuals to make the games look good on modern displays, along with some quality-of-life improvements as well.

It's $20 off at Amazon right now, its best price since June this year, matching the then sale price of $29.99 as well.

The discount is available for Switch, PS5, and Xbox. But, note that Suikoden I & II HD Remastered does not feature an upgrade path for Switch 2, and will require a seperate purchase (save data from the Switch version still can be transferred to the Switch 2 version).

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection is down to $19.99 at Amazon this week, a fairly significant 60% off the original list price of $49.99.

It features a compilation of 14 retro games based on the popular trading card game, many of which are available in the West for the first time within the bundle release, alongside a unique collectible card (Harpie's Feather Duster).

Here's every game you get in the bundle:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (GameBoy, 1998)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters II: Dark Duel Stories (GameBoy, GBC, 1999)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule (GameBoy, GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories (GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of the Great Duelist (GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (GBA, 2001)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul (GBA, 2001)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 6 Expert 2 (GBA, 2001)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards (GBA, 2002)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction (GBA 2003)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel (GBA, 2003)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2004 (GBA, 2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler (GBA, 2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 Trials to Glory: World Championship Tournament 2005 (GBA, 2004)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Probably the front runner for GOTY in 2025, and it deserves it. $10 off at Fanatical right now in the summer sales, and just $39.99 for one of the best games you'll ever play.

Michael Higham had glowing praise for Expedition 33 in his IGN review, saying: "Wearing its inspirations on its sleeve, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 paints itself into the pantheon of great RPGs with a brilliant combat system and a gripping, harrowing story."

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

$39 seems to be the set standard for Switch games on sale, even now in 2025, but in all honesty I don't think The Thousand Year Door has actually hit that price point yet since its release.

In case you're in need of some convincing before hitting that 'add to cart' button, it's worth knowing that we gave this game a 9/10 in our Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door review.

IGN's Logan Plant said in his review: "Everything fans have been begging Nintendo to bring back is here, including a delightfully varied turn-based battle system with satisfying real-time elements and unique, lovable party members who are essential to both the story and gameplay."

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

It's not the lowest price we've seen for the game, that was $22.99 back in May this year. But, $25 is still pretty excellent, and well worth considering for Switch or PS5.

In our Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance review, writer Michael Higham stated that, "Although it doesn’t fundamentally change what already made the original great, its new separate storyline and quality of life improvements are reason enough to play (or revisit) this masterclass in turn-based combat and demonic atmosphere."

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

I know plenty of people are looking to play Legends: Z-A when it drops for Switch 2.

In my opinion, Legends: Arceus still holds up incredibly well, especially when you lean into the exploration and catching mechanics that set it apart from the usual formula. Not only that, but it runs like a dream on Switch 2, so at $45, this could be worth picking up.

It's not a rare discount by any means, but with prices potentially set to rise across the board for all things Nintendo Switch, this could be one that's worth owning physically ASAP.

The Last of Us Part I

Put the haters aside, this is the definitive edition of one of the best games ever made. For $30, you are getting an incredible experience, that's well worth playing once or twice.

I love The Last of Us, and reguarly revisit it every year for a replay. I also love Part 2, but that's a traumatic experience and I'm not fond of abusing my emotions.

Resident Evil 4

Another of one of the best games ever made, discounted for PS5, what a turn up! It's another remake, which has started to gather a little bit of resistence in 2025, but it's a damn good one.

Resi 4 is outstanding from start to finish, and if you haven't yet had the chance to play this, change that now! $20 is worth it, and I'd recommend picking up the DLC if you can as well.

Looking for even more top deals right now? There's also a big 30% off the MTG x Final Fantasy Commander Deck bundle, discounts on Star Wars: Unlimited boosters like the Twilight of the Republic Booster Display, and even a refurbished PS5 Pro on sale for $589.

How to Get Free Delivery With Amazon Prime

In the US, anyone can join Prime for $14.99 per month or $139 per year, with a zero-cost 30-day trial also available for eligible new users.

But, the better deal is entirely for the young crowd through the "Amazon Prime for Young Adults" scheme, which offers the same benefits, including fast delivery and access to Prime Video, with a few additional features like 5% cashback every day on tech, and zero food delivery fees on Grubhub.

This version comes with a six-month free trial, followed by a 50% discount on the standard membership price, reducing the cost to $7.49 per month or $69 per year until the customer turns 25 (or your knees start to ache when you bend down).

Should I Buy Now or Wait for Black Friday?

Although Black Friday is still the best time to buy almost everything, many other seasonal sales events have become almost as big in recent years.

With pretty much every retailer planning some sort of way to attract customers throughout 2025, there are plenty of sales to look forward to this year.

With some tariffs already in effect in the U.S. and more resuming in August, shoppers are looking for discounts wherever they can find them.

If you're hoping to save some money at any point this year, there are a few different sale dates worth marking on your calendar, the next one being Labor Day sales.

We've recently gathered some of the biggest upcoming sales events we know about to help you plan out your online (or in-store) shopping in 2025 and beyond.

For now, with Black Friday since a good few months away, I'd say you're safe to make any purchases video games for now. It's likely some games will drop even further (Expedition 33, for example), but some folk are old enough to know you can pay yourself with time as well, so if you want to play any of these games now, without having to pay an eye watering $70 price tag, there's nothing wrong with dropping $20-40 on a game right now.
